MS. JAMIE's
BIOGRAPHY 2 * * *a new journey *The below bio was written November 2005.
Quite a bit has changed. A more detailed explanation plus current events will be posted on the bio 3 page* I am sure many have noticed slight complications concerning my feet. Last January (2005) I was diagnosed with neuropathy. Not many people are aware of what neuropathy. It is very common with people diagnosed with diabetes. I tested negative for diabetes so another possibility is the after effects of rituxin. Rituxin was one of the forms of chemotherapy I underwent after being diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer several years ago. Today I am still in remissision (thank you LORD!), but Rituxin is a nasty chemical and can cause side effects from a few weeks after starting it to seven years after finishing it. One of the side effects from Rituxin is neuropathy, and I can assure you it is not a joy ride. Symptoms of neuropathy ultra sensitivity, numbness, severe pain, among others.. I started taking Neurontin (3 @ 300 mg every 6 hours), Naproxen (1@ 500 mg every 6 hours), Pentoxifylline ( 1@ 400 mg every 6 hours),Amitriptylyne (1 @ 25 mg each night). For a short time it seemed as if the symptoms were becoming less painful, but I began to notice that in September (2005) things were beginning to get worse. Swelling of my feet became a nuisance, and I would go on stage at times not bein able to feel my left foot. I felt like a weeble wobble. One night I was doing "My Immortal", and I could not find my balance. I heard someone in the audience say, "Look at her, she's drunk." I began wearing boots more often for my performance numbers, because it gave me some support. I tried hard to bare the pain, and clumsiness, that came with the disease, but it seemed each week it was getting worse. It was time to take a medical leave and stay off my feet, at least until the neuropathy has passed. I have had some time to think and decide that it is to my best interest to stop performing, and work on other interests. I love performing; it was what I lived to do, but there is a reason for the Neuropathy. I think GOD was trying to tell me something. HE puts us through challenges that seem difficult, but HE never gives us anything we cannot handle. After each challenge there is always a great reward. I just have to get through yet another one. I will (smiles)! Actually I like the idea of going from "show girl" to "school girl". The lime light was great, but that light has dimmed. Not in a negative way, but more in a positive search for another light in my life. Being "Amirage" was one of the best things, because I got to live out all my fantasies. I'm 37 now, and fortunate enough to say that I have accomplished all my dreams, goals, fantasies, plus so much more than I ever would have imagined! Not many people can say that so I have been blessed! I have several DVD's of my performances available for sale. Thank you again for all the support you have given to me, and I hope to see everyone again soon!! HUGS and KISSES!!! Amirage / MS Jamie :) |
