MS. JAMIE's
BIOGRAPHY 3 * * *coming around again "amirage" vs"jamie" People
are often confused
as to what to actually call me, or what name to use when talking to me.
People know me as Amirage, (pronounced: "ah-mirage" not "am-er-age"),
the show girl. Many people know me from my web site as Jamie. To make
clarity out of this confusion let me explain the history of each name.
The name "Amirage" came about twenty years ago when a friend that was born a genetic female wanted to be a drag queen, a "Victor/Victoria" scenario. She wanted a clever name, so I was thinking it had to do with something referring to a mirage of sorts. The light bulb went on in my head "a mirage", thus came the name "Amirage". She never decided to go through with her dream, so the first night that I went out dressed as a female, and people asked me what my "drag" name was, and she introduced me as Amirage. Since the introduction of my name as Amirage, this is what everyone I met, from this moment on, had began to call me, which in turn also became my stage name. Ten years ago, when I finally made the decision to live my life full time as a female, I changed my birth name legally to Amirage. Since this was the name everyone knew me as, this was to become my new legal name. If you have read my first bio page, there was a moment when I wanted to stop being Amirage the show girl, and become more in touch with my transgender self. I stopped calling myself Amirage, and took on the name "Jamie", which is the feminine version of my original birth name. Though I did not change my name legally again, I wanted to be now known as "Jamie" not "Amirage". Jamie was much more pronounceable and more of a normal, feminine name than Amirage. My new life as a full time female, and the people I would now meet, would know me as Jamie. When I became the person I wanted to be, I began performing again. Onstage I would use the name Amirage, while offstage I wanted the name Jamie. This was my way of dividing the worlds of show business and reality. After a few years of performing, people that came to see my shows would also visit my web site. When people I met from performing had gotten to know me, often they would ask me what name I prefer to be called. I reiterate this to help end confusion; People who know me as a performer call me "Amirage", people who I have met through the internet call me "Jamie", and people who really get to know me call me "Ami" (pronounced: ah-mee). "Ami" is derived from both Amirage & Jamie. coming soon, check back!
